The nativity scene in Pontelongo is a popular interactive experience where the magic of Christmas merges with local traditions. Visitors can admire scenes of everyday life, such as blacksmiths, shepherds, washerwomen, and millers, all brought to life by actors in period costumes. Since 2007, the event has grown exponentially, now covering over 2,500 square meters and involving almost 150 actors and about thirty animals. Each edition attracts more than 15,000 visitors, who are captivated by the attention to detail and authenticity of the scenes.
According to local legend, the old Pontelongo mill, which is featured every year in the nativity scene, was once home to a miller renowned for his generosity. It is said that one night, while he was working, an angel appeared to him and asked him to grind grain for free for the poor. From that moment on, the mill became a symbol of charity and hope, values that continue to inspire this unique representation.
For over 80 years, the Sacred Representations Committee of Revine Lago has organized one of the oldest living nativity scenes in the region. With over 60 actors, the performance retraces the key events of biblical history: from the original sin of Adam and Eve to the flight of the Holy Family and the birth of the Savior. The second part depicts the massacre of the innocents and the arrival of the Magi, who followed the star to the grotto to adore Baby Jesus. This event masterfully combines faith, history, and tradition in a picturesque setting.
In the small town of Annone Veneto, a group of friends initiated a tradition in 2002 that now involves the entire community. With about 200 actors, the Nuova S. Vitale Park is transformed into a perfect reproduction of Bethlehem from two thousand years ago. Here, ancient trades and scenes of daily life come to life, offering visitors an immersive experience.
